A little sneak peak for this family of 5. I had the incredible honour of being invited into this couple’s birthing space last week, and I wanted to share a few of my favourite photos. Mama was a champion, with only 1.5 hours of active labour and 7 minutes of pushing, she brought her little girl earth side with zero pain meds and a tremendous amount of inner strength and support from her loving husband Jon. This is their third baby, she trusted the process and let her body do the work it needed to do. The energy in the room was electric when the final breath brought baby out and into her mom & dad’s arms.
I am always in awe of what a woman’s body is capable of given the chance. We so often doubt ourselves because of the cruel and untrue things society tells us about child birth. This work is more than just about capturing the real and raw emotion that comes with birth, it is about telling the real story of what a woman can do, and in this moment I felt as though I was exactly where I was supposed to be. Thank you Jon & Courtney for inviting me into this sacred place to tell your story.
